The Frankincense Road
Join Jane Austen - your guide to the coolest adventure along the Frankincense (Frank-in-Sense) Road. The Ancient Frankincense Road is a famous 2400-mile highway that began in the beautiful lands of East Africa and Arabia. It's a road that has been traveled by peoples from Africa, Europe, Arabia and Asia for over 3500 years.
The highway was named for the Frankincense Tree. The Frankincense Tree is very special in that it only grows in certain places. It made many countries and peoples from all over the world very rich. It was of especial importance to the people of the Monomotapa Empire, an African kingdom now hidden from history. You pronounce it Mon-O-Mo-Ta-Pa.
